College of Engineering (COE)
Henry Ford once asked his engineers to cast an 8-cylinder engine from a single block. The engineers were adamant it was impossible. Mr. Ford listened respectfully, then replied, “Make it anyway.” Simply said, he understood engineering, that impossible isn’t at all. As do we.

Dean, College of Engineering (COE)
Putrajaya Campus, Universiti Tenaga Nasional
Welcome to the College of Engineering (COE) of Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN). The College of Engineering is the largest college in this university and we offer programmes at bachelor levels. The COE also collaborates with the College of Graduate Studies to offer programmes at Masters and PhD levels.
Our programmes are structured into semesters and are broad-based with a strong emphasis on basic fundamentals. Towards the end of your studies, you can choose the technical area you wish to specialise in. These specialised technical electives are courses that are of great demand and needed by the industry and the nation at large. These are coupled with strong emphasis on development of soft skills such as communication, leadership and management, and nurturing humanitarian values to mould you into becoming a well-rounded and competent professional engineer in harmony with holistic societal values. We are committed to producing engineers who are career resilient, i.e. always equip themselves with the latest tools, technology and skills to be able to adapt and are ever ready to apply them to any work environment.
The college staff work hard to produce a unique and enriching learning experience for our students. Our programmes are accredited by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and the bachelor programmes are recognised by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). In order to ensure that all the bachelor programmes offered in the COE are relevant to the industry and in response to the requirement by the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC), the Outcome Based Education (OBE) model is implemented in all the bachelor engineering programmes.
OBE requires that input from all stakeholders are sought in designing and reviewing the programmes curricula. A clear statement of Programme Educational Objectives (PEO) and Programme Outcomes (PO) is required. In order to ensure that the quality of the programmes are continuously improved, a clear Continual Quality Improvement (CQI) system is utilised. It is a measurement of achievement of the outcomes while the students are in UNITEN. Then, after they have left the University, the results are analysed to continuously improve the quality of the programmes.

Engineering as Profession in Malaysia
Engineering is a profession that requires creativity, innovation and problem-solving skills to design and improve various aspects of human life.
Engineering is a challenging profession that demands high standards of technical competence and ethical responsibility. It is also a highly paid profession that offers many opportunities for career advancement and personal growth, locally and internationally. In Malaysia, engineering profession is regulated by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), a statutory body that regulates the professional conduct and practice of registered engineers in order to safeguard the safety and interest of the public. BEM is a signatory country of Washington Accord. Under this Accord, graduates from Higher Learning Institutions that is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Council, BEM are allowed to practice engineering internationally in countries which are signatories of Washington Accord.
